Why can't my pet see the same veterinarian everytime I visit?

We always try to accomodate the requests of our clients though sometimes there are circumstances that prevent our doctors from seeing your pet every time you visit. Due to the fact that we have two doctors sometimes there will be days where only one doctor will be on staff. Therefore it may not be the doctor that your pet is used to seeing. Please feel free to request a specific veterinarian when booking your appointment and we will do our best to book your appointment on a day that the requested vet will be on staff.

Can I call and have you email a copy of my pet's rabies/vaccine certificate to the grooming facility or kennel that my pet will be staying at?

As long as you provide us with the email address of the facility we will be happy to email your pets vaccination records over.

I have a hard time controlling my pet in the lobby. Can I make arrangements prior to my appointment to take my pet into an exam room right away?

We want to make your appointment as easy and stress free as possible.  If you would like to make arrangements to bring your pet straight into an appointment room please let us know when you are booking your appointment.

What do I do in case of an emergency and your clinic isn't open?

There is the Pet Hospital of Hastings and Prince Edward County which is located behind the Petro Can station at the opposite end of the plaza. Please contact them with any emergencies. Their number is (613) 968-9956. Any records will be emailed to our clinic in the morning so if you pet requires a recheck we will have the information from your appointment at the emergeny hospital.

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday 8am-6pm, Tuesday 8am-6pm, Wednesday 8am-8pm, Thursday 8am-6pm, Friday 8am-6 pm and Saturday 9am-1pm. We are closed on Sundays.

Do I need to have an appointment to see a veterinarian?

Yes, in order to see a veterinarian you must make an appointment ahead of time. We are frequently fully booked during the day so we do not encourage walk in appointments. Walk in appointments will be seen, though you may experience a small wait as we must attend to our patients who have scheduled appointments first.

At what age can I have my pet spayed/neutered?

Patients must be 6 months of age or older in order to be neutered. Prior to booking the surgery your cat or dog will recieve a physical examination by a veterinarian to ensure that they are healthy enough to under go the surgery. All patients must be up to date on their vaccines in order to under go the surgery.

I want to purchase flea and/or tick medication for my pet, do I need to bring my dog/cat in to the clinic in order to buy it?

In order for you to purchase flea and tick medication, your pet must be a patient with our clinic and we require an accurate weight as these product dosages are weight dependant.
Does my cat need to be in a carrier?
While it is not mandatory to have your cat in a carrier it is highly reccommended. Even the most easy going cats can be startled during a trip to the vet. We strive to make everyones appointments as stress free as possible however the combination of car rides and unfamiliar smells can be a lot for your cat to experience. Many cats feel more secure inside a carrier.
Can I let my dog socialize with other dogs in the waiting room?
While we encourage well socialized dogs, the vet clinic isn't the best place to do it. Some dogs coming into the clinic are not feeling well and may not be in a socialable mood. Strange smells and an unfamiliar place can make even the most friendliest dog feel threatened, therefore they may act out of character. We want everyone to have a safe and uneventful visit.
Do you accept payment plans?
We do not accept payment plans for routine procedures. In the case of an emergency payment plan options can be discussed with the office manager.

My pet doesn't go outside very often, do they need to be vaccinated for rabies?

Even if your pet is strictly indoors or spends a minimal amount of time outside, it is mandatory by Ontario law that they be vaccinated against rabies.
